Shaun Roman
, NSW, Australia
- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Dr Roman is the Associate Director Research at NSW Health Patholgoy, He has supervised 12 RHD students and 18 Honours students. Shaun’s team explored the biology of the male germ cell and he effect of acrylamide on these cells. Acrylamide is consumed in food. Dr Roman used both acute and chronic exposure models. The chronic model allows the examination of the toxicology of acrylamide at doses relevant to human exposure. The team have established the detrimental effects of acrylamide and are now examining the consequences of damaging the male germ line and finding ways to alleviate the effects. Dr Roman developed a research pipeline going from enzyme to isolated cell through to whole animal models that allow for chemicals to be examined for enzyme affinity through to germ cell toxicology.
